Roadbuds

Support

Roadbuds is built and run by a small team. Email reaches a person, and that person answers.

General help, bug reports, feature requests, privacy requests, or anything else.

hello@roadbuds.app

We aim to reply within two business days. Reports of abusive content or behaviour are reviewed within 24 hours.

01Report a user or content

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on Roadbuds. You can report from inside the app, which is fastest:

  • A person — open their profile and use the report control, or open your conversation with them and use the warning icon in the header.
  • A vehicle or photo — use the report control on the vehicle.
  • A conversation — the warning icon in the chat header reports the whole thread.

You can also email hello@roadbuds.app. Include the username and what happened. Reports are anonymous — we never tell someone who reported them.

Every report is reviewed within 24 hours. Content that breaches the Terms is removed and the account is suspended or terminated. Credible threats to someone's safety are escalated immediately and referred to law enforcement.

02Block someone

Open their profile or your conversation with them and choose Block. Blocking takes effect immediately and works both ways: you disappear from each other's maps, lists and conversations, and neither of you can contact the other again. You do not need to report someone in order to block them.

03Delete your account

In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your profile from other users and stops all collection of new information about you.

If you cannot access the app, email hello@roadbuds.app from the address on your account and we will delete it for you. You can also request a copy of your data or its permanent erasure from our systems at the same address; we respond within 30 days.

04Location and privacy controls

Map sharing is off for every new account. To change it, go to Settings → Map sharing, where you can share with all friends, with a list of friends you pick, or with nobody.

To hide yourself around a specific place, add a private zone from the map. While your position falls inside one, you do not appear to anyone. The privacy policy explains exactly how location is recorded and why your position freezes when you stop driving.

05Common questions

Does Roadbuds track me when I am not driving?

No. Your stored position only advances while you are moving above the driving threshold. When you slow down it freezes wherever it last was, which is why the app cannot reveal where you parked. See section 3 of the privacy policy.

Can strangers see where I am?

No. Map sharing is off by default, and even when you turn it on it only applies to friends you have chosen. People outside your friends are subject to a minimum distance — at least 50 miles for a friend-of-a-friend and 200 for the wider network — so they can see the game is being played somewhere, never where you are.

Why did a car I passed not unlock?

Both drivers need Roadbuds installed and running, and both need to be moving on the same stretch of road at around the same time. If one of you was inside a private zone, or stopped, the pass will not register.

Do I have to keep the app open while I drive?

No, and you should not. Set the app up before you set off, then put your phone down. Never interact with your device while driving.

Can I send photos in a message?

No. Roadbuds messaging is plain text only, and you cannot share your location in a message. This is deliberate.

My car is not in the catalogue.

Email us at hello@roadbuds.app with the make, model and year and we will add it. The catalogue covers more than 1,700 make and model combinations, but it is not exhaustive.

I found a security problem.

Please tell us privately at hello@roadbuds.app before disclosing it anywhere else, and give us a reasonable window to fix it. We will credit you if you would like us to.
